Jamie and Helena are leading the charge in this fun and exciting celebration of the fabulous horsemen in all our lives. With such a diverse population of dedicated, bright and handsome men in the horse world, the ladies of HRN thought the end of the year would be a lovely time for us horse girls to show our appreciation for the men among us.

And the Most Eligible Horse Bachelor is:

Andrew Figures

Nominated by: Cheryl Figures:  Looks like it’s time to do some PR for my candidate, Andrew Figures. Andrew has been training and competing in Dressage since he was 6. He had to earn his lessons either by getting good grades or doing chores, nothing could make Andrew knuckle down like dangling a riding lesson. Now as an adult nothing has changed he works hard to earn a lesson from his trainer. Andrew goes from cleaning stalls, to riding horses, to teaching students, mending fences, stacking hay, and so on, if it needs to be done he does it… his days are long but his smiles never stop.

And the Hottest Horse Husband is:

Jim Fey

Nominated by: This is my husband, Jim Fey. For 34 years he has done the late night feeding and stable check because he knows I’m a morning person. This is a guy that thinks riding in circles is boring yet for 34 years he has maintained the footing on my indoors, outdoors and round pens because he knows it’s important to me. He is the hottest horse husband.

And the Hottest Shirtless Guy Galloping on a Horse:

Kenneth Pridham

Nominated by: Amberly Knott:  My nomination for Hottest Horse Husband (Can it be Hottest Horse Husband / Boyfriend ?): Kenneth Pridham – My horse loving significant other. A photo of him at his finest.

And the Hottest Farrier is:

Mike Marquis of Buckeye, AZ

Mike says, “Being reliable and dependable is what you can expect out of me every day!” And his philosophy about hoofcare? “A Farrier should be a true craftsman, one who has genuine interest and pride in his work. He should look at each hoof that he prepares and shoes as one that will bear his trademark and demonstrate the quality of his work.”

And the Hottest Veternarian is:

Dr. Joe Rosenberg, DVM

Dr. Rosenberg graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He lives and practices in California as owner of Paniolo Equine Veterinary Service, serving western, dressage, jumper and companion horses from Del Mar / Rancho Santa Fe to Ramona/Poway.  Dr. Rosenberg is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture. He was born and raised in HawaiiPersonal: Born and raised in Hawaii (thus the name “Paniolo”, Hawaiian for “Cowboy”), and enjoys reading, hiking, tennis, running, and hula!

And the Hottest Horse Dad is:

Monty Roberts

Nominated by:  His Daughter Debbie Loucks:  A legend in the horse world and father to 47 foster children.  What more needs to be said – it’s Monty Roberts!

And the Hottest Couple (Man and Horse):

Rafael and Ivory Pal

Rafael Valle and Ivory Pal are partners and friends. Ivory Pal is a Palomino Tennessee Walking Horse who competes and performs bitless and barefoot. He and Rafael have been featured in books, magazines, and celebrations of the horse all over the U.S.

And the Best in Breeches is:

Boyd Martin:

Australian native Boyd Martin, 31, relocated to the United States in 2007 to pursue his dreams of international eventing competition. He and his wife Silva, a Grand Prix dressage rider who is originally from Germany and now rides for the USA, operate Windurra USA out of Phillip Dutton’s True Prospect Farm. Now riding for the United States, Boyd, who has dual citizenship, was the top-finishing American individual and a member of the 4th-placed US Eventing Team at the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky.

With three horses competing at the three-star level, in 2010 Boyd was named a member of the US Eventing team’s “A” training list, with the WEG as his goal. Three top-twelve finishes at the Rolex Kentucky CCI4* event placed him on the short list with Neville Bardos and Remington XXV. Following his success at the WEG, Boyd capped off the year with a top-ten finish riding Ron and Densey Juvonen’s Remington XXV at the Pau CCI4* in France, his first competition in Europe. Boyd finished 2010 ranked 5th on the international HSBC FEI Rider of the Year Rankings, 3rd overall on the US Eventing Association’s Rider of the Year Leaderboard and USEA Preliminary Rider of the Year. He has also been named to the 2011 “A” training list.

And the Hottest Horseman’s Special Honor – Best in Show:

Charles Campbell and Zenyatta

Charles Campbell is the Assistant manager for the Broodmares at Lanes End Farm in Lexington KY.  That means he handles one very special mare daily… Heard of her?  Her name is Zenyatta.  While qualifing for several of the 2010 Hottest Horseman awards, we felt that he deserved a “Best in Show.”
